The average person can read 200 words per minute with a retention rate of 60%. Our blog posts will take you no more than one minute to read. And we’d be just tickled if you retained 60%. We’ll even highlight the point to make it easier!

Important fact: The average therapist thinks that they are better than average at predicting client outcomes…truth is therapists are worse than chance at predicting outcomes ( Just like the average person thinks that they are slightly smarter than average)! If you don’t believe me, feel free to spend the rest of our 60 seconds in your Google search.

What does this reveal? Therapists are humans and humans make predictable errors. Humans can use tools to compensate.

How do you do it?

1. Humble yourself and accept that you are a human and cannot pay attention to all of the important information

2. Select a quality measurement tool such as the Youth Outcome Questionnaire or the Outcome Questionnaire 45.2

3. Give it to your clients

4. Look at it, and talk to your clients about any response that doesn’t fit your expectations.

What will you get? More robust outcomes in a shorter period of time
